In order to ensure PVC windows & doors¡¯ satisfactory tightness, sealing strips should be installed on windows and doors. The sealing strip mainly include rubber strip or sealing strip. The rubber strip is divided into two categories: one of frame and sash and the other for glass. The sealing strip is used on the sliding doors or windows to guarantee the sealing between the frame and sash.
Please make sure that the section shape, dimension and material of the sealing strip chosen meet the standard requirements and the strips have reliable performance and convenient installation when choosing the sealing strip.
I, Rubber strip
1, Glass rubber strip
Glass rubber strip is also called as K-rubber strip and mainly used for sealing between the bead and glass when the glass is assembled, as shown in figure 1-13

2, Frame and sash rubber strip
Frame and sash rubber strip is also called as O-rubber strip and used for sealing of the fit clearance between the frames and sashes of windows and doors. Generally, the fit clearance between the frame and sash is 3-5mm. Hence, pay attention to the specification when choosing the rubber strip, as shown by figure 1-13.
3, Attention paid during installation of the rubber strips
(1) The ends of the rubber strip in each frame should be located at middle of the upper frame. The rubber strip at each corner should be scissored corner so that it is neatly installed in the right angle. Don¡¯t scissor the rubber strip apart.
(2) Start from the upper frame during installation. Use a roller to press in the rubber strip.
(3) Leave an excessive length of rubber strip at its end in case that the rubber strip shrinks and may not have satisfactory sealing effect.
(4) The rubber strip, once installed, should not come out of the groove. Don¡¯t install two or more sections of rubber strips on the same structural member.
II. Sealing strip
1, Selection of sealing strip
The selection sealing strip should comply with the technical indexes as stipulated.
- The sealing strip should have homogeneous and dense fuzz, straight tuft, be cut neatly, free from defects of incomplete fuzz or unevenness.
- The sealing strip¡¯s tuft is silicated to reduce the sliding friction between the sealing surface and enhance hydrophobic property and water resistance. Moreover, the tuft has been treated for ultraviolet resistance in order to prolong its lifespan.
The sealing strip¡¯s specification is determined based on the profile¡¯s structural elements and fit clearance between the profiles.

2, Function of sealing strip
The sealing between the frame and sash of sliding windows and doors is realized by the sealing strip, which is generally installed on the sliding sash, as shown in figure 1-14.
The sealing strip is also applied to:
- Periphery of the floor spring door¡¯s leaf.
- The parts on the sliding screen sash that have gaps with the window or door frame and sash. The sealing strip is installed to prevent intruding mosquitoes and flies..
3, Attentions paid during installation of sealing strips
(1) The sealing strip should not be too big, Otherwise, it will cause assembly and sliding difficulties.
(2) The sealing strip, once installed, should not come out of the groove, Don¡¯t install two or more sections of sealing strips on the same structural member.
